Brenda brings extensive experience in the home building industry and nonprofit leadership. During her time for nearly 14 years leading HomeAid Portland, she successfully expanded partnerships and housing initiatives,
furthering HomeAid’s mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education.

In her capacity as Chief Affiliate Officer, Brenda’s focus is on strengthening affiliate collaboration, sharing best practices, and ensuring each HomeAid affiliate has the resources needed to strengthen and expand their impact. She will also continue to foster the collaborative spirit that defines HomeAid’s success across the country. Brenda is originally from Alaska, and has lived in Portland, Oregon for over
twenty-five years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Public Affairs from Portland State University. Brenda’s community involvement has focused on work in her local neighborhood and local schools, serving on the Portland Council PTA Board of Directors, and starting, implementing and maintaining a food backpack program for students facing food insecurity at two low income schools. 

Brenda was honored for her work and dedication to families and students with the prestigious Oregon PTA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Brenda also served as a Portland Charter Commissioner for two years which worked on updating the form of government and voting structure for the City of Portland. In her spare time, Brenda enjoys hiking, cycling, backpacking, reading and traveling.
